I want to know more about the star tbh. Ultra cool dwarf. What does that mean? Like a subdwarf G or K?
Oh, okay, no. Even cooler. Spectral class M, dwarf star. Temperatures of around 2700 K. Includes M-dwarf late type stars and some brown dwarfs. Tiny cold star. Barely bigger than Jupiter. They theorised their accretion mechanism would allow for the formation of many terrestrial rocky type planets and hey, guess they were right. Seven rocky planets in one stellar system, all between 0.01 AU and 0.06 AU (for reference, mercury is 0.39 AU from the sun).
Also, if there’s any intelligent life in this system at 40 light years away, and they know about the electromagnetic spectrum and how to detect and listen to radio waves, they’ll have been able to listen to us and our radio broadcasts for 30 years now (we’ve be broadcasting for seventy years, so they would have received the first transmission thirty years ago, if they replied then we’ll find out in ten years)
